Hunters Raises £4,115 for Hospice in the Weald

Written by Carl Lincoln | 05/12/2024

On a crisp autumn day, Hunters – The Furniture Company – welcomed clients, partners, and friends to its annual Charity Clay Pigeon Shoot Day. This year’s event, held at the picturesque Bisley National Shooting Ground, brought together a passionate group of participants united by a shared goal: to support the vital work of Hospice in the Weald.

The event carried special significance this year as it was held in memory of Emma, who was cared for by the Hospice earlier in the year.

Through generous donations, enthusiastic participation, and a silent auction, the day raised an impressive £4,115 to help fund the Hospice’s vital services.

A Day of Friendly Competition

The day began with a warm welcome from Hunters’ team, setting the tone for a relaxed and enjoyable event. Attendees were treated to expert guidance and safety briefings before heading to the clay shooting stands. Whether seasoned shooters or complete novices, participants embraced the competitive spirit, taking aim under the guidance of professional instructors.

Laughter echoed across the grounds as guests challenged one another, celebrated successful shots, and playfully ribbed their misses. By the end of the shoot, smiles were as abundant as the spent cartridges scattered underfoot.

A Meaningful Cause

Hospice in the Weald, a local charity dedicated to providing palliative care and support for patients and their families, holds a special place in Hunters’ heart. Throughout the day, guests were reminded of the incredible work the Hospice does, from end-of-life care to bereavement support.

Sarah Twort, Relationship Fundraising Assistant at Hospice in the Weald, attended the event and spoke to its importance:

“It was a real honour to attend the Hunters Shoot Day on behalf of Hospice in the Weald in memory of Emma, who passed away under the Hospice’s care at the beginning of the year. Everyone was so generous with their bids in the silent auction, and an amazing total of £4,115 was raised. I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended this event and helped to support the Hospice.”

The Silent Auction

Following the shoot, guests gathered for a relaxed lunch, where a silent auction took centre stage. From luxurious spa days to exclusive experiences, the prizes up for grabs sparked enthusiastic bidding from many attendees.

The auction proved a fantastic success, with every bid contributing to the grand total of £4,115 raised. It was a testament to the generosity of Hunters’ clients, partners, and friends, who came together to make a tangible difference.

A Heartfelt Thank You

Hunters remains committed to giving back to the community and is already looking forward to hosting more charity events in 2025. For now, the team celebrates a day well spent – raising funds, enjoying camaraderie, and supporting the life-changing work of Hospice in the Weald.
